Devenish island

from £155.00

Devenish island original watercolour 12×9” £650 mounted

Limited prints mounted £155

There are so many islands on Lough Erne in the Fermanagh Lakelands, and Devenish island is the Queen of all of them. Here is the ancient round tower built by the monks to protect themselves and their monastic treasures from the Vikings.

Nearby are the ruined remains of that monastery and a wonderful centuries old Celtic cross. I like the way the tower and cross have survived intact through the ages.

The island is uninhabited these days and trips to this special place are full of thoughtfulness in the wild windy climate.
