Mont St Michel
To cycle the Camino de Santiago from Home I chose the Way of the Plantagenents across Northern France.
It takes me past one of the World Heritage sites – the iconic Mont St Michel.
For over a thousand years it’s stood on this bleak outcrop along the coast between Brittany and Normandy.
It’s featured in the Bayeux Tapestry.
It featured in my Camino.
There is one – impossibly steep – narrow street up to the monastery that stands there like a pair of clasped hands praying to God.
The best view is from the barrage on the river. Thats where I set up and painted this image en plein air.
